Hyrox North American Championships. We transformed some raw, accessible data into information. Can you convert it into Knowledge? This analysis concerns this season’s top 3 EU + 3 US athletes. Why? Just because we have 2 The Lousa Way male athletes competing.

Check the Individual Performance Radar Graphs 📈➡️ by Sofia Ferreira 👩‍🔬

We considered the workouts that, in our opinion, have a direct connection to the overall performance.
1. Average “km” (Running + Rox Zone / 8)
2. Average Sleds (Push + Pull / 2)
3. Average Ergometers (Ski + Row / 2)
4. Total Burpee Broad Jump
5. Total Wall Balls

Race stats taken from Hyrox (Mika timing).
Alex, Tim, Michael, David: EC Maastricht, 21 JAN 2023. The EC venue was adapted for the Elite.
The biggest impact is clearly on the Farmers Carry (10 x 20m + 9x 180º turns) and also some minor impact on the BBJ and WL.
Dylan: Hyrox Chicago, the qualification event.
Ryan: No split data from the only event of the season. Data is from the LA event 1 from last season. Not the best, but possible.

Race preview
If the venue (Navy Pier) remains unchanged:
Expect a very Fast Rox Zone (sub 2´)
‘Regular’ races (around 31´)
If they set up an Championship typical configuration: workouts will be slower (specially Farmers carry)

Finish times won’t differ that much from Maastricht.

Expected performance without context:

Runs and Rox: Dylan and Tim should be the fastest.

Strength workouts (sleds) : Kent and Michael are very strong and usually go out hard;

Ergs: Alex and Michael are the fastest here (size and background matter);

Wall balls: it’s the only workout where there can be some differences. Hopefully Alex will make up some ground here 😀

We must also consider other athletes. Especially those who have been constantly improving and haven’t yet reached a plateau: Florian for example.

There are many other more subjective variables that must be taken into consideration:
– Peak and Training;
– Mindset, anxiety and motivation;
– Race tactics and pacing;
– Illness or injury;
– Rest / Jet lag / adaptation;
we could only talk about Alex and Patrick but that stays confidential 🤫 😉
